Opasnost jezika – Hutba Mart-29-2013 / 17 Džumadel Ula 1434 (Khutbah March 29-2013)

Opasnost jezika

Imam Buhari i Muslim.

Ukbe ibn Amir r,a, kaže pitao sam Allahovog Poslanika a,s: U čemu je spas Allahov Poslaniče? Čuvaj svoj jezik, nek ti tvoja kuća bude dovoljna, i plači nad svojim grijehom, reče Poslanik.

Tabarani, i Hafiz El-Munziri.

Tirmizi.

The dangerous of the tongue

The tongueDear brothers, every one of us speaks and talks, but how many of us are taking care of what do we say? The illnesses of the tongue are very serious and very dangerous, and there is no true success or safety from that danger except by speaking khair, by speaking good.

In Islam talking is not cheap and it definitely is not free, talk is something we must all account for. The concept of guarding our tongue is very important in our private and public life. It is the tongue that speaks what is in our mind and heart. If these organs are pure, honest, and sincere, then we speak the truth for love of Allah. In the Day of Judgment, our organs are to be witnesses for us or against us.

Allah said in surah Isra 36: And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart – about all those [one] will be questioned.

The most important part of the body is the heart as has been mentioned by our noble Prophet Muhammad – in his saying, “Indeed there is a piece of flesh in your body that, if it be sound, then the whole body will be sound and if it be corrupt then the whole body will be corrupt. Indeed it is the heart.” – Sahih al-Bukhari [1/49] & Sahih al-Muslim [1599]

The heart is the place where Allah scans, as the Messenger of Allah – says, “Allah does not look at your bodies nor your faces but he scans your heart and actions.” – Sahih al-Muslim [4/6221]

Abu Hurairah r,a, narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: Any person who believes in Allah and the hereafter, let him say good, or let him be silent. (Imam Buhari and Musim)

So if a person is not careful about what he says, even a single saying of his can invalidate his actions. It is for this reason that the whole body warns the tongue saying, “Fear Allah concerning us, for we are (dependent) upon you. If you are upright then we will be upright and if you are corrupt then we will be corrupt.” – Sunan at-Tirmidhi (1912), Mishkaat (4838) and Riyaadh as-Saleheen (2/1521)

Each one of us should ask why, when, what, where, how often, to whom, and for how long, and for what purpose I’m to talk.  Sahl ibn Sa’d narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: Whoever gives me a guarantee to safeguard what is between is jaws and what is between his legs, I shall guarantee him Jannah. Imam Buhari.

Uqbah ibn Amir r,a, reported that the Messenger of Allah said:  I said o Messenger of Allah! What is safety? He said: Control your tongue, let your house preoccupy you (stay in your homes), and weep for your mistake. Tirmithi.

For it has been stated by Muaadh ibn Jabal when he questioned the Prophet saying: (yaa rasoolullaah) – oh messenger of Allah, will we be taken for what we say (taken account)? The Prophet stated: (yaa ibn Jabal) oh son of Jabal, is there anything that makes the people or pushes the people into the hellfire upon their faces except the harvest of their tongue. Ibn Maajah and Tirmidhi and Haakim related this.

Imaam ash-Shafiee – rahimahullah – said. “If you wish to speak then it is upon you to think before you speak. If you think there is good in it then speak and if not then do not speak.”

Also the Messenger of Allah – said, “Most of the sins of the children of Aadam are from the tongue.” – At-Tabaraanee (3/87/1-2). Authenticated by al-Haafidh al-Mundhiri in al-Targheeb (4/8)

The Prophet  (saw) said “When a person gets up in the morning, all the parts of his body make a plea to his tongue saying; ‘Fear Allah regarding us, because we follow you. If you are right then we shall also be right, and if you are wrong then we shall also be wrong.” (Imam Tirmidhi)

Anas r,a, reported that the Messenger of Allah said: The faith of Allah’s servant will not be upright until his heart is upright, and his heart will not be upright until his tongue is upright. Imam Ahmad.

Abu Hurairah said that he heard the Messenger say, “Indeed a servant (worshipper of Allah) may say a word which he doesn’t realize and it will make him fall into the fire further than the East and the West.”

Abu Hurairah also reported that the Prophet said, “Indeed a servant may say a word from which Allah’s pleasure is gained and the servant does not realize it, Allah will raise him up levels. Indeed a servant may say a word from which Allah’s displeasure is gained and he does not realize it, Allah will put him in Jahanam due to it.” – Saheeh al-Bukhari (8/485), Al-Muwatta (56/6) and in Saheehul-Jaami’ of al-Albaani

Imaam Ahmed along with at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasaai and Ibn Majah record a Hadeeth on the authority of the Sahabee, Sufyan bin Abdullah who said, “O Messenger of Allah tell me something that I may be firm upon?” He answered, “Say, My Lord is Allah and then be upright concerning it.” He asked, “What is the thing that you fear for most.” The Messenger of Allah took hold of his tongue and said, “This! Musnad Ahmed bin Hambal, Sunan an-Nasaai, Sunan Ibn Majah and Sunan at-Tirmidhi
