Bolesti jezika IV dio

Imami Ebu Davud i Tirmizi, hasen-sahih.

Imam Buhari i Muslim.

The diseases and illnesses of the tongue

Part IV

I have left upon you something, which is very clear, so clear that its night is like its day. And no one strays from it except for the one who is destroyed. Who among us does not make mistakes? Who among us can dare claim that he is infallible? Every human is expected to make mistakes, and this is not in itself a defect, for the Prophet said: “All the sons of Adam constantly commit sins, but the best of those who constantly commit sins are those who are constantly repentant.” Imam Ibn Maajah.

Last jumuah we talked about the illnesses of the tongue: lying and breaking promises, and Backbiting Wrangling, arguing and disputing with others, and today we will talk about; Self-justification or self-praise, cursing, invoking evil on creatures, Jesting, ridiculing, and scoffing at people.

Self-justification or self-praise: Praising yourself is a sign of arrogance, and the Prophet (s) said that a person with even a seed of arrogance in his or her heart will not enter the gates of paradise. Self-praise is something that brings both people’s dislike and God’s dislike upon you, both in this world, and in the next. In this respect the Prophet said: “The most hated person in the sight of Allah is the extremely quarrelsome person.” Imam Al-Bukhaari.

Cursing: Do not curse anyone or even anything that Allah has created. Even when you are wronged, respond with peace and kindness not with the same ignorance that was hurled at you. Allah (swt) says about the servants of the Merciful, “And when the ignorant call upon you, reply to them “Peace.” Narrated Samurah Ibn Jundub Allah’s Messenger said; Do not curse one another, invoking curse of Allah or Wrath of Allah or the fire of Hell.’ Imam Abu Dawud at-Tirmidhee.

Allah’s Messenger said; cursing a believer is like murdering him.’ Agreed upon. Narrated Abu Darda Allah’s Messenger said, ‘When a person curses (La’nah; to ask that something be deprived of Allah’s Mercy) somebody or something, the curse goes up to the heaven and the gates of the heaven are closed. Then it comes down to the earth and its gates are closed. Then it turns right and left, and if it does not find an entrance to go anywhere, it returns to the person or thing that was cursed, if he or it deserves to be cursed; otherwise, it returns to the person, who uttered it.’ Imam Abu Dawood.

Allah’s Messenger also warned; those who frequently resort to cursing would neither be accepted as witnesses nor as intercessors on the Day of Resurrection.’ Saheeh Muslim.

It is not allowed to curse, disgrace or humiliate even a sinner because in doing so, one helps the Satan, who is avowed to disgrace and humiliate Muslims before Allah. Narrated Abu Hurayrah; a drunkard was brought to the Prophet. He said, ‘Give him a beating.’ Then some beat him with their hands, some with their shoes, and some with (a folded) piece of cloth. When he left, someone said to him, ‘May Allah disgrace you!‘ The Prophet said, ‘Do not help Satan overcome him by uttering such words.’ Saheeh al-Bukharee.

The Prophet, said, “The believer does not slander, curse, or speak in an obscene or foul manner. In a hadith on the authority of Abu Hurayrah the Prophet, said: “It does not befit a man of truth to be a curser.”

The Prophet, said: “Cursing a believer is like killing him.” Commenting on this Hadeeth, An-Nawawi said, “According to the apparent meaning of the Hadith, both killing and cursing are equal in prohibition, however, killing is graver.” Other scholars said, “Cursing a believer is like killing him with respect to prohibition, guilt and deprivation. This is because cursing is deprivation of the mercy of Allah The Almighty, and killing is deprivation of life.”

Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas it was mentioned that the wind blew away a man’s outer garment and, thereupon, he cursed the wind. The Prophet, said to him: “Do not curse the wind because it is commanded [by Allah to blow]. Whoever curses something and it does not deserve the curse, the curse will turn back upon him.”

The Prophet was on a journey on which there was also a woman from the Ansaar riding a she-camel. The she-camel annoyed her and so she cursed it. Having heard her, the Messenger of Allah, said: “Take off the load on its back and set it free because it is cursed.”
